This VivaMúsica! Web Portal is part of the portfolio of publications offered by VivaMúsica! Publishing, the Brazilian communication network that specializes in classical music.
VivaMúsica! was founded in 1994 by journalist Heloisa Fischer (helofischer@vivamusica.com.br), who heads the company to this day, currently in partnership with Luiz Alfredo Moraes (Commercial Director). The company’s head offices are located in Rio de Janeiro.
VivaMúsica! has been present on the Internet since 1995, when the first version of this portal was launched. Since then, the site has received continual improvement. Since 2005, it has compiled the Brazilian itinerary for nationwide classical music programming, with special emphasis on capitals São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It also reports Brazilian classical music industry news. The portal is updated on a daily basis.
The company’s publication portfolio includes two printed media products: the VivaMúsica! Yearbook (a business guide for the classical music industry in Brazil, published since 1998, with bilingual texts, directed distribution in Brazil and abroad, and single-copy sales, recognition by Unesco for its cultural merit), and the monthly magazine Agenda VivaMúsica! Rio de Janeiro, which contains the city’s classical music programming, published since 2002 and distributed free of charge at concert halls and cultural centers in Rio.
VivaMúsica! is present in the electronic media in the form of radio news bulletins, produced by Heloisa Fischer, which are broadcasted by three radio stations. On CBN, the bulletin covers general classical music news and airs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:10 pm on a national network that comprises 24 stations (click here for a complete list of the cities and dial frequencies). On São Paulo’s Cultura FM radio, Heloisa provides news on Wednesdays (at round 7:30 pm, during the program "Atenção Brasil") and on Fridays (5 pm). On Rio de Janeiro’s MEC FM radio, her commentary on the Carioca classical music agenda is aired Monday through Friday at 1 pm.
In 2005, by initiative of VivaMúsica!, classical music lovers and professionals alike were surveyed and asked to select a date to become National Classical Music Day. The birth date of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, March 5th, was chosen. The Rio de Janeiro Mayor’s Office has already added the date to the city’s official calendar, by Decree no. 26.192. In 2007, the Governor of Rio de Janeiro has decreeted the Classical Music Day in the state of Rio by Law no. 4.991.
Since May 2007, Heloisa Fischer hosts the TAM classical inflight radio channel. The programm is called "Clássicos VivaMúsica!".
